Running An Agent: Activate, Change, Pause, Stop

What Activate checks, what happens to people already on the path when you publish changes, and how Pause and Stop differ.

Activating

A new agent is a draft. It saves the first time you choose Save draft or Activate agent, and on its own every couple of seconds after that.

Activate agent first runs the Before you activate checklist. With anything left to fix, the button shows how many and opens the list under it; choose an item to go to that step or setting. Otherwise it shows what the agent will do and asks you to confirm.

Following It Live

  • Each step shows how many people are on it now and, for emails, how many were sent, opened and clicked, and how many replied or reached the goal after it. The numbers refresh every 30 seconds.
  • Select an email step to see its Results: sent, opened, clicked, replied and reached goal, each with its rate.
  • The Activity column on the left shows the agent's status and totals: Entered, On the path, Reached goal, Replied, Emails sent, Opened, Clicked, Finished and Left early.
  • People lists the 40 most recent. Choose someone to see their current step and a timeline of everything that happened to them.
  • Path review (Activity column): every Monday, once the agent has sent 20 emails, Behavly reads the path’s own results and suggests what to change — new instructions for a step, a different wait, an A/B test to start or end, or advice for you to act on. Each suggestion says why, with the path’s numbers. Apply makes the edit in the draft (publish it to use it); Dismiss removes it. Nothing changes on its own. Review now asks for one early, at most once a day.
  • From Campaigns, an agent opens on its own page with Analytics, Audience and Setup. Audience lists every email each person received.

Releasing Held Emails

With approval on, written emails wait in Review in the Activity column. Send all, or open each one to Read, Send or Skip it. A skipped person moves on to the next step. Held emails do not expire.

Changing A Live Agent

Edits to an active agent stay unpublished until you choose Publish changes. Newcomers then take the new path; people already on it finish the version they started, with the settings it had.

Pause, Resume, Stop

Pause
Nothing sends. Everyone keeps their place.
Resume
Picks up where everyone was. Your plan, AI settings and mailbox are checked again first.
Stop
Everyone still on the path leaves it, and the agent becomes read-only. This cannot be undone.
Duplicate
On a stopped agent: a new draft with the same path and settings.

An agent also pauses itself when it cannot go on: the plan no longer includes Agents, the period's AI emails are used up, AI is switched off, or there is no active mailbox to send from. The Activity column says why, with a button to fix it; then Resume.

An agent whose audience is Specific people shows Completed once everyone you picked has been through the path.

Editing the path needs a wider screen than a phone. On a phone you can still read the path, and pause or stop the agent.

Active Behavly Agents—15Unlimited

An agent holds a slot while it is running or paused. Drafts, stopped and completed agents do not, and publishing changes to a live agent does not take a second one.
